Dolch Word Listen and Spell Games

These games are oldies but goodies! They can now be played on computers, tablets or phones. There is a game for each word list. Ten words are chosen at random from the word list. When the player hears a word they have to choose the letter tiles in the correct order to spell the word. There’s a “more” button at the end so that you can try with another ten words from the same list.

These games provide a great way to focus on the spellings of the Dolch words. There’s a supportive framework in that the only letters given are those that appear in the word, and if the player chooses an incorrect letter, it is not selected. This means that a child can still get all the words correct even if they had to use a bit of trial and error to get there.
